East by Northeast - Inman Square - Cambridge Website

This small restaurant is a wonderful small place to try something different. Inman Square  is definitely an up and coming area for food and fun. The head chef of this small (maybe 12 tables) restaurant has cooked at some fantastic restaurants including the almost neighbor Hungry Mother in Kendall Square. After cooking at a couple of high end American and French cooking he decided to open his own place adding a unique twist to the chinese food that he learned from his family.

Like any great restaurant, East by Northeast makes everything in house including their noodles. Everything is served “tapas” style which is always a wonderful way to try a restaurant as it provides the opportunity to try many different things easily. Every night there are specials that are different and always delicious. The various plates come out when they are fresh out of the kitchen so there is a wonderfully constant flow of food coming to the table.

Recommendations:
Either of the “Hand Rolled Short Noodles” dishes as they are a delicious and unique Asian version of gnocchi in texture and shape.

The crisp pork belly (under the bread section). Its kinda like a unique asian pork belly slider (left).

The Porkslap pale ale - It is cheap (for being in a good Boston area restaurant) and is surprisingly delicious and is even more tasty because it is served in its can with two pigs belly slapping each other.
